Miso greatly contributes to the health of Japanese people. During your stay in Japan, why not learn how to make miso, which is healthy, delicious, and fun? The class includes detailed lectures and tasting of miso soup made from three distinctive types of miso. At the end, refresh yourself with a sweet sake yogurt dessert. Sweet sake is a sweet drink made by fermenting rice malt. This is a class where you can experience the wonderful benefits of fermented foods.
Details
Included in the course: miso-making experience, miso soup tasting, sweet sake dessert, green tea, lecture about miso, printed materials, and 500g of miso made during the course.
First, while drinking tea, you will learn about koji, the basis of Japanese fermented foods, and miso made from it, including its history and health benefits. During this time, there will also be a tasting of three types of miso soup using local Japanese miso. After that, you will actually make miso, with detailed explanations of important points. Finally, refresh yourself with a yogurt dessert made with sweet sake. You will take home about 500 grams of the miso you made.
Notes
- No experience or knowledge of miso making is required. Let's enjoy making it together!
- The miso made in the course needs to be fermented at home for about six months. If you have any questions during this period, please feel free to contact us. (There may be group sessions.)
- If you prefer a vegan version, please inform us at the time of reservation. Soy milk yogurt will be provided.
- Please notify us if you have any allergens.
- Children aged six and above are charged adult fees. Children aged five and under can participate accompanied by an adult, but cannot take home 500g of miso.
- Homemade miso may not be allowed to be taken home due to customs regulations when returning to your country. We recommend checking the local import regulations in advance. The made miso will be sealed with a sealer to prevent leakage.
- The main kitchen is usually near Akasaka Mitsuke Station, but since it is a shared kitchen, the location may change to other kitchen studios in the city center. If so, you will be informed after your reservation.
