Let's visit family-run hidden gems and try some amazing local cuisine.
Details
Let's explore the non-touristy areas of Asakusa, Tokyo, and enjoy tasting a variety of delicious foods. Meet your guide at the Kaminarimon gate in Asakusa, and stroll through much of the area. Walk about 1 to 2 kilometers, visiting areas with fewer tourists as well as family-run shops and restaurants.
First, we'll visit a standing sushi bar run by a fishmonger. Learn how to eat sushi and taste fresh seafood you've never had before. Sushi was once considered fast food in Japan, but you'll also learn the proper way to enjoy it now.
Next, we'll visit a family-run soba shop and enjoy fresh soba and dumplings at a local restaurant that only the locals frequent. Try handmade senbei at a local shop that has over 100 years of history. Sample a hidden gem of a Japanese snack that started as a street vendor in Tokyo 50 years ago.
Finally, we will visit Senso-ji Temple, one of the largest temples in Tokyo, to learn about Japanese culture and history.
