Summary

Saijo is a hidden gem for sake fans.

Details

There are eight sake breweries in the town, seven of which are located along the sake brewery street.
On this tour, you will walk through the historic streets, visiting sake breweries and enjoying sake tasting.

The reason for the concentration of breweries in Saijo is the "brewing water," which is essential for sake brewing. In the Saijo area, "miraculous water" of medium hardness, suitable for sake brewing, gushes out from underground. Moreover, the composition of the water differs slightly depending on the location of the brewery.
The brewing water is an essential part of sake brewing.

To get a true taste of sake, a visit to Saijo (Hiroshima Prefecture) is a great way to learn about the true taste of sake.
The tour begins with a sake tasting and explanation of sake at Kamotsuru ( Kamotsuru).
This brewery is one of the leading breweries of sake in Hiroshima.
Kamotsuru has an impressive selection of 12 unique bottles.
We will first visit the place to see the many artifacts and learn about the brewing process.

After the brewery tour, we will sample the local specialty "Bisyu-nabe," a hot pot dish made with premium sake, and other tasting dishes made with Saijo ingredients. (Bisyu-nabe must be ordered in advance, so last-minute reservations for the tour may be subject to an alternative lunch menu.
Learn about the history of this delicious dish at a local lunch spot.

After lunch, we will stroll through the picturesque streets and tour the breweries.
Each tasting room is unique and offers a variety of sake and sake-based products to sample.
Visit a local café and enjoy sake-inspired sweets and snacks.
At each sake brewery, you will be able to sample a variety of different types of sake.
If you find a type you like, you can purchase it at the brewery's store and take it home.
