The "Hana-machi" area around Gion and Pontocyo in central Kyoto is the city's most famous entertainment district and the center of traditional culture and nightlife.
Hana-machi is the historical name for the area of teahouses where Kyoto's famous geisha perform music and dance.
The tour begins with a stroll through the "Hana-machi" area.
If you are lucky, you may see Maiko and Geiko on their way to work.

We stroll through the alleys and back streets to a hidden gem of a cocktail bar with great bartenders and award-winning original Gold Star drinks.
At our first stop, we will sample local cuisine and delicious cocktails.
This hidden gem bar has several special features and you can even order a drink to suit your "mood".
Just talk to the bar staff and they will make you something special.
As the evening progresses, you will be treated to some of the best views of the ancient Japanese capital.

Our next stop is a restaurant built over 100 years ago.
The proprietors of this riverside establishment will delight us with stories and specialties.
We will sample some local Kyoto sake and learn about sake.

Our final stop will be a whiskey tasting at an upscale bar in Pontocyo (Pontocho).
Sample the Japanese whiskey of your choice and see why it has become famous all over the world. (Non-whisky drinkers are welcome to enjoy other beverages as well.)
Pair your final drink with your favorite sweet or snack.
End the tour with a stroll through the vibrant nightlife district.
