Recently, the yen has been hitting new lows every day, and maybe because my name is Tanaka Kotaro, I get daily DMs from followers asking for Japan travel recommendations, especially for places where you don’t need to call to make a reservation. Making a reservation by phone from abroad is really difficult.
You all know that most shops and omakase restaurants in Japan require phone reservations. However, there’s a little trick I found out recently.
There’s a new website called Japan Food Guide, specifically for booking high-end sushi and omakase restaurants. Tabelog doesn’t even have this category, and the best part is it’s available in Chinese, making it super convenient.
⬇️ For example, this sushi restaurant gets its fish from Toyosu Market within an hour.
They offer both sushi omakase and set meals, all for just a few hundred dollars.
The fish for the omakase is selected daily by the chef, so you don’t have to pay tourist prices at the market.

2️⃣ This omakase set offers 17 items for a few hundred dollars, including top-quality honmaguro toro. You’ll get three appetizers, four types of sashimi, five pieces of nigiri sushi, rolls, grilled items, steamed dishes, soup, and dessert.
