This is perfect omakase! From the most delicious food to the great ambience, it’s as if we were eating gourmet authentic Japanese food in a friend’s house. Chef Fujibayashi san and his wife are ‘Fantastic Two’! We all had our favourites, wagyu beef roll, abalone steamed in sake, sushi with prawns fresh from the tank, to name just a few. It was certainly a charming way to celebrate a 60th birthday! Would highly recommend this lovely restaurant to anyone looking for a great omakase experience.

Fantastic experience from start to finish. The hosts, including the owner/chef made us feel special and welcome, offering descriptions of the courses in English.
WOW! The food was amazing with each course presented to us in a very comfortable private room.
At the end of the meal the chef came and met us. We had a lot more in common than I'd ever have thought, since he had spent some time in the UK near to where we had lived!
We highly recommend making reservations at Gion Daiki. -

Inventive & unique Omakase Experience/ April 2025
From the moment we sat down at Gion Daiki - it was clear this was about to be a dining experience like no other. Having the Chef & his wife kindly welcome us, we were treated to a unique range of dishes which made ones taste buds dance. The freshness of the fish, the inventiveness of plates offered & fact that each dish was given an explanation as served was great. If you want to witness authentic dining in Kyoto - look no further than Gion Daiki. They are deserving of Michelin level attention.
Exceptional! This was the most special and amazing dinner experience we’ve had in years!
