Summary
Let's learn how to make a set of Japanese home-cooked dishes, including classic recipes like okonomiyaki, yakisoba, gyoza, and sushi, in a lively kitchen studio in Shinjuku where tradition and modernity blend.
Details
In this experience, you will learn authentic home cooking in Shinjuku, located in the heart of Tokyo. You can choose to make one dish from four set menu options. (If you have a menu preference, please let us know when making your reservation. If there are prior reservations in the same class, you may not be able to choose your menu.) All menu items are very popular and well-known dishes in Japan. This experience takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes from cooking to eating.
Sample Menu:
A: Okonomiyaki and Yakisoba Set (with Side Dish)
Okonomiyaki is a delicious dish made by grilling a batter with finely chopped cabbage and other ingredients on a hot plate, served with sauce and toppings. On the other hand, Yakisoba is a stir-fried noodle dish typically made with ramen noodles, seafood, pork, vegetables, and a sweet and flavorful sauce. A side dish completes the set.
B: Gyoza and Takoyaki Set (with Side Dish)
Japanese gyoza is pan-fried until crispy. In this class, you will also make takoyaki, a famous dish from Osaka and the most popular food at summer festivals!
C: Traditional Sushi Roll Set with Teriyaki (and Side Dish)
The era of store-bought sushi is over! You will roll and cut your own sushi, served with teriyaki dishes, salad, and miso soup.
D: Traditional Gozen Set
The set meal includes a variety of items in small portions, such as meat, fish, side dishes, miso soup, and rice balls. It's perfect for those who want to learn how to make Japanese home cooking!
E: Let's decide together on the dish to make.
