Summary

Experience tea picking in Wazuka Town, Kyoto, famous for its Uji green tea!

Details

This experience takes place in Wazuka, the tea capital of Japan.
Although this town has a population of only 5,000, it produces about 40% of the annual production of Uji green tea in Japan.
The pristine, undulating tea fields are a testament to the importance of the tea plantation in the local culture.
Visitors can get a glimpse into the world of matcha through a tea-picking experience in the heart of the matcha industry.

The museum director, a native of Wazuka Town who loves matcha and the Wazuka area, will guide you through the process.
You can pick green tea leaves directly in the pristine countryside.
You can experience the first step in the process from harvesting to eating.

After tea picking, you will make soba (buckwheat noodles) and tempura.
You will also receive tea spices as a gift.
This spice contains tea leaves, lemon peel, and garlic and is very nutritious.
